Buckwhip responsible for death of a child

Whilst most people looked on in awe today at the sight of Benny Buckwhip sporting a brand new black beanie, one family is mourning the loss of a young child. Sergeant Frank Banks from the Auckland Central Police Station can confirm that Benny's bold new fashion statement has been the cause of a serious inner-city car crash which has resulted in a six-year old boy's death. "Upon seeing Benny walk out of the TAB the driver in question has become distracted and failed to stop at an intersection, which has resulted in a horrifying side-on collision and unfortunately the death of a child." Banks believes the cause of the crash was without doubt Benny's flamboyant sense of fashion, "What Benny must realise is that people don't really wear beanies that much anymore so when someone suddenly does [wear one] it can be quite surprising."

Whilst Benny is unsurprised his beanie caused a car crash and admits his new head-wear is "pretty sexy" he remains adamant he is unaware of any such car crash occurring. "I don't remember anything, people have told me I'm pretty stupid though; and I'm an alcoholic." Police are reluctant to pursue Benny in relation to the incident because its emotionally disturbing and horrific nature. "Death is such a hard thing to handle, especially the death of a child, and I don't want to be responsible for placing too much emotional hardship on our officers. We don't do that anymore and it just wouldn't be nice," Banks says. Whilst Benny has empathy for the boy's family he has no plans to stop wearing the beanie.

When questioned on how he acquired such a fashionable piece of head-wear, Benny remained coy, "can't really say" was his initial response. When further pressed he remained purposefully elusive, "I worked in the Corstorphine Freezing Works for ages and it kept my head warm. Really warm. Warmer than a hot gun on a cold night. Warmer than hell." Finally Benny admitted that he received the beanie as payment for his work work at Radio New Zealand on an upcoming radio documentary that follows the success of the Buckwhip's multi-platinum selling album Live at the Gold Guitars which is due to air in August 2009. Unfortunately for the swelling numbers of people now wanting to get their hands on a black Radio New Zealand beanie the news remains bad, "If you want one you have to work for Radio New Zealand, either that or by doing heaps of stuff for them that's really degrading."

The first episode of The Lonesome Buckwhips' radio show airs at 3pm Sunday August 2 on Radio New Zealand. The following episodes air over the month of August at 3pm on Sunday 16, 23, 30.

Source: Buckwhip responsible for death of a child

Buckwhip Radio Show - How to tune in

Just thought we'd let you all know that the first episode of our radio show is set to air 3pm Sunday August 2nd on Radio New Zealand. Then the same time for the following three weeks for the next episodes on August 9, 16 and 23.

Here's what some slamming hottie had to say about us in the Listener (which is a magazine). What she writes is probably all true as well:

The Sunday Drama (Radio New Zealand National, 3.04pm). Goodness gracious, it’s local radio comedy! This is how they do it in the UK: test an act on the wireless, and if it works, put them on the telly. It worked for the Mighty Boosh, Ricky Gervais, the Flight of the Conchords – surely the next step for the Lonesome Buckwhips is world domination? But perhaps we’re getting ahead of ourselves. In the first of a four-part series, we learn the storied background of the Buckwhip family, prison escape and greatly exaggerated death on the high seas included.

We assume the easiest way to tune in for our web friends and international fans would be to listen to the live stream from the Radio New Zealand website at 3pm (NZ time).

Or if you have SkyTV you can listen on channel 501. It's also on that weird TV device call Freeview - somewhere?

Alternatively if you own a radio, and would like to make good use of it, you can listen on the following frequencies below:

Funnily enough, we have played every single one of these towns. Gary would expressly like to say hello to all the fly honeys in Otematata - he hasn't forgotten you, and he hopes you're listening.

Buckwhips Jubilant About New Addition to the Band

In what is possibly the biggest revelation in careers of The Lonesome Buckwhips, Miri has just purchased a new violin stand. This puts her right up there amongst the greatest violinists in the world including, Yehudi Menuhin, Stefane Grappelli and Vanessa Mae who also use violin stands. “It is an honour to now be considered in the same league as these fine violinists, I’m also looking forward to having a designated place where I can put my violin in between songs,” says Miri. The violin stand is said to be top of the line, and was purchased at a local retailer. “It’s a pretty big deal. The guy at the shop told me it was imported from overseas, or something. That in itself is amazing!” The Lonesome Buckwhips report that audiences will be able to see the new violin stand at all of their upcoming performances, however due to the money outlaid for the new purchase, these costs will be passed onto the audience with an increase in ticket prices. “We will be looking at increasing ticket prices by roughly a dollar per ticket,” says fellow band-member and brother Arty, “I know that will be a hard pill to swallow for some fans, but it’s just the nature of the industry. The stand cost between $20 to $25, so that gives you an idea of the expense involved. Tickets will remain at the inflated price until we recoup the costs for this essential item.” When pressed Arty reveals that the price increase may have to last for quite some time.

Source: Buckwhips Jubilant About New Addition to the Band
